One designer, one discipline
I've spent more than twenty years trying to make films feel more real in people's homes. That's still the whole point.
After working for others and honing my craft, I started out by myself in 2014 as Connected Works - smart home, AV, lighting, door entry, what the industry calls custom installation. Good work, and good clients. But the cinema projects were the ones I designed most carefully and was most proud of. In 2018, one of them won CEDIA's Best Media Room. Everything else started to feel like a distraction.

In 2019 I rebranded as Cinemaworks and narrowed focus completely. One discipline: home cinema design and installation, done properly. Rooms that perform - films and box sets experienced as they should be.
Specialising forced a rigour that generalist practice doesn't demand. I work to CEDIA's RP22 standard - the global recommended practice for immersive audio design - and helped write it. I hold all three higher-level CEDIA certifications, was the first globally to receive the top-level Member of Excellence designation, and won CEDIA's Best Home Cinema award in 2025. I co-host the Home Cinema Design Podcast and sit on the international working group that develops the standards.
The room itself isn't the point. It's the evening you had in it - how deeply the film moved you, how long it stayed with you after the credits. The more I'm allowed to engineer for you, the deeper I can push that.
A well-implemented cinema room is also very stable. Install it well, get the data network right, set it up properly, and it just works - uptime in months or years. If something does go wrong, it's always the broadcast box. I'm good, but miracles are beyond me.
